Nippon Sheet Glass Foundation for Materials Science and Engineering (NSG Foundation) was established by Nippon Sheet Glass Co., Ltd. in 1979 to commemorate the 60th anniversary of NSG. NSG Foundation provides research grants for studies on inorganic materials used in various industries, including information technology, communications, biotechnology, energy, and environmental protection. Since its establishment, NSG Foundation has received 6,089 applications and awarded grants totaling 1,980 million yen to 1,566 selected applicants. NSG Foundation also provides grants for research projects related to inorganic materials conducted at overseas universities and institutes. Since 1992, it has received 1,234 applications and has awarded grants totaling 1,193 thousand dollars to 204 selected applicants.
